The Jacques Delors Institut – Berlin was founded in spring 2014. As a scientifically based think tank, the institute aims to contribute to the German debate on key issues of the European political agenda. For that reason, the institute organizes debates and connects decision makers from the fields of politics, civil society, the media and science. The institute’s publications and events, all accessible to the general public, provide information about Europe and present innovative ideas for current issues and long-term political decision processes. Former speakers of the institute’s debates include Wolfgang Schäuble, Sigmar Gabriel, Günther Oettinger, Peter Altmaier and Pascal Lamy. The Jacques Delors Institut – Berlin was voted one of the Top 25 new think tanks worldwide consecutively in 2015 and 2016 and won the Politikaward in the category “Viral Communications” for the Anti-Brexit campaign #WeWouldMissYou in 2016.

The Jacques Delors Institut – Berlin is mainly funded by its shareholders, the Hertie School of Governance and Notre Europe – Institut Jacques Delors. Within the scope of the research project “Repair and Prepare: Strengthen the Euro“, the institute benefited from the support of the Bertelsmann Stiftung as a cooperation partner. In 2015 and 2016, the institute received funding from the Federal Chancellery, and project funding has been provided by the Federal Ministry of Finance since 2016. In addition, the think tank is funded by donations, cooperation with foundations und numerous projects. The institute is located at Allianz-Forum, Pariser Platz 6, situated east of the Brandenburg Gate.
