Upcoming Events

The Jacques Delors Institut – Berlin hosts a number of different events at Allianz-Forum to contribute to the debate on the European Union in the German capital. Studies and reports are presented and discussed. A series of breakfast discussion rounds and lunch debates will be launched soon to give internal and external scientists and authors an opportunity to present publications and engage in debates with Berlin’s expert audience. In addition, the institute hosts bigger public events at Allianz-Forum, some of them in cooperation with external partners.

Celebrating Helmut Schmidt at 100 – Rethinking Europe

To celebrate Helmut Schmidt’s 100th birthday, the international symposium Rethinking Europe invites the world’s leading experts on European and international affairs to discuss the most pressing questions about Europe’s future – 100 days before the European elections. Three “Schmidt-topics” are in focus: foreign and security policy, economic and fiscal policy, as well as institutional affairs of the EU. What can be done to counter populist and anti-European movements and keep Europe united? What role can the EU play to advance economic prosperity for its citizens? And how can the EU be a relevant player in a new global (dis-)order? more

This conference will discuss the future of economic policy in the euro area from a range of different perspectives – with one clear goal in mind: How to make the economic union work better. The programme will include remarks by Jacques Delors and a keynote by Mario Draghi, followed by a high-level panel discussion with Olaf Scholz. more

EU to go. 30 min breakfast. Euro reform: Where do we stand?

The project invited Berlin-based policy-makers and experts to discuss the state of play of Eurozone reforms on the eve of German coalition negotiations. Henrik Enderlein, Director of the Jacques Delors Institut – Berlin, and Katharina Gnath, Senior Project Manager of the Bertelsmann Stiftung presented current proposals on how the Eurozone could be reformed and pointed to possible challenges in the months ahead. more
